2020 Review: Our Incredible Ambassadors

In Their Own Words

“2020 has been a year of two parts.

In February, we celebrated colleagues’ long service milestones from across the Royal Mail, raising a fantastic £630 for the Fund.

When COVID hit, income for charities and independent businesses ground to a halt . I approached Jenny Bird, a pottery business owner in rural Worcestershire. She needed to raise vital income for her family. Between us had a vision - and the Rowland Hill Fund butterfly was born.”

Marie Jens

“Countries went into lockdown but we Rowland Hill Fund ambassadors still carried on – in a responsible way of course!”

Pardeep Ahluwalia

“This year, I have promoted how the Fund can help employees who are having financial difficulties and the resources available to them.”

Angela Griffiths

“Home Counties South decided to raise money for the Fund as a thank you for supporting HCS colleagues during the first wave of Covid.

We held a raffle with some amazing prizes including Afternoon Tea up the Shard, an Aston Martin ‘Blast’ Day and Primark vouchers (perfect for Christmas). Delivery Office Manager, Mark Haughton (West Brompton & Earls Court) kindly donated his luxury caravan for a week away for 6 people, worth £1000. The CMA/Unite Kingston Branch donated a £250 cash prize to be paid to one lucky winner. So far we have raised £10,000 for the Fund.”

“Over the past two years, we have been raising funds through raffles, cake sales, and the sale of old equipment.

More recently we managed to pass on a donation of £3,000 following the transfer of some unused containers. We are happy to donate to such a good cause and aware of the support they have given to colleagues, including one of our own staff at Stansted, Airport this year due to the pandemic.”
